alright here i shall explain how to build traps.
Everyone has the ability to build simple traps. These can be use to trap small animals and creatures. THese traps are non-lethal and usually do little harm besides a broken leg, etc...
Simple Traps:
Small pit trap-->requires shovel, 5-10ft deep, 5 ft around.
Tripwire trap--->requires wire/rope
To make other traps you must acquire the build trap spell/feat(level 2) which only mechanist mages and rogues can do. This allows you access to standard traps. THese traps are often lethal and can possibly kill the target.
Standard Traps:
Dart Trap
Snare
Poison Dart Trap
Tumbling Rock Trap
Spiked Pit Trap
Beyond this they're higher level traps but they're not accessible yet.
Trap Making:
To make a trap you must have the rquired tools to make said trap and then pass a making check.
Special trap mods=STM(some feats/items/etc... give bonuses to traps.)
making check= Luck Roll + Knowledge+STM
Skill Level of Trap(SL)=your making check+STM
^this is what others have to pass to see the trap.
Reflex check=Luck Roll+Reflex
Failing to make trap:
if you roll a one on your luck roll, you have the potential of bombing you trap making. aka you set off the trap, or fall in by accident. If this happens roll a reflex check if you fail the check, you fall in/take dmg from the trap. Non-lethal traps will probably just bruise them self, or break an arm or leg. lethal traps may even kill you.
Checking for traps:
to find a trap you must make a search check
Search check= luck roll+knowledge
to pass this check you must beat the SL of the trap. If you do you find the trap and then can avoid it or attempt to disarm it. If you failand step withen range of a trap, the trap will set-off. Then make a reflex check to see if you can dodge the trap. If you fail you take full dmg and/or fall in. If you pass you take no dmg or take half dmg, depending on the trap.
Disarmin Traps:
Once you find a trap you may attempt to disarm it. This is the same as making a trap. Must beat the SL to succeed. If you fail, make reflex check to see if you take dmg.
