In the year 1015, explorer Jalik`Far'nan(ha-lick Far-nan) claimed to have discovered the world's end. In 1016, scientists verified this claim and all world maps were updated to show the "Dropoffs"(the ends of the world) and that the world was flat. In 1017, Erdred Fornear a scientist from Far'ed who could just not beleive it was the end of the world, lead an expedition to find out what was past it. however, he never returned.
In 1200, a strange beast was discovered deep in the mountains of Halegrin. These beasts were named the Hoggrins. The were a strange and abnormally largesized bread of hog and griffin. They had the face of a pig but the body and wings of a griffin. So large were these beasts that up to 10 people could ride one and were capable of long distance flights. They were soon domesticated and used for cross-world transportation.
In 1205, Galred Fornear, Earderd's great grandson, believed that perhaps there is a world beyond the abyss and wanted to find out what had happened to his great grandfather. In 1206, he lead an expedition across the dropoff to find what was truely out there. With the help of the Hippogrins he was able to find a series of floating plataeus that would soon be called the Ornian Archepeligo.
In 1215, in a collective effort the people of Istrel created a small settlement on the main plateau. The were soon attack by ravenous monsters and the settlement was soon converted to a military camp.
It is now 1220, and the Nezera settlement has put out ads for mercenaries to come to cleanse the plataeu in the promise of great rewards.
(most people that would be coming to this land would be mercenaries or explorers.)
